Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home Obituary

JoAnn Eckhart, Hop Bottom, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Sunday at Regional Hospital in Scranton. Her husband is William Eckhart. The couple married in 1968.


Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Bertha Smith Barber. Prior to retirement, she worked for Lockheed Martin as an Administrative Assistant.


Also surviving are two daughters, Paula Harris, Clarks Summit, and Tammy Jo Burke and her husband William, Dunmore; two grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Burke; two sisters, Catherine Stritzinger, Dallas, and Jackie Kobusky, Hanover Township; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her son, Paul David Eckhart; three brothers, Jake, Donald, and William Barber; two sisters, Dorothy Stone, and Bertha Roberts.


A memorial service will be held on Friday at 5 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Reverend William Stritzinger. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

Dear Bill and family. Please accept my condolences for this terrible loss to your family. JoAnn was a lovely, vibrant woman and I know she will be missed by her family and friends. Take one day at a time, cherish your memories and just take deep breaths.
