Joann Whorton

Joann Whorton, of Caddo, OK, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the age of 87, at the Oakridge Nursing Center, in Durant, OK. She was born August 12, 1934 to Willie and Lela (Winchester) Spence, in Upshur County Texas. She married R. H. Whorton on July 30th, 1954 at Pine View, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 8th, 1999.

Joann loved and cherished spending time and holidays with her family. She also loved going to church and being with her church family. She was an avid reader and read daily. She loved crocheting and made many blankets and baby blankets that she gave as cherished gifts. She also loved working in puzzle books. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joann, is Survived by 4 children, Richard Whorton and wife Linda of Caddo, Ok, Kenneth Whorton of Caddo, OK, Lavinia Bagby and husband Rick of Caney, OK, Leslie Whorton of Caddo, OK. 10 Grandchildren, Ken Whorton, Danielle Whorton, Tonya Bagby and husband Chad, Waylon Bagby and wife Baye, Lucas Bagby and wife Barbara, Davina Beegle and husband Bryan, Michael Whorton and wife Shelby, Jamie Whorton, Jenilee Hitchcock and husband Chad, Levi Whorton and wife Courtney, 20 Great Grandchildren, Carly Bagby, Sage, Emma, and Barrett Bagby, Chesley, Gunnar, and Anderson Case Bagby, Clara Belle and Jasper Beegle, Kaitlyn, Noah, and Abigail Whorton, Charli and Andi Noland, Elizabeth, Lincoln, Liam, and Nash Hitchcock, and Bladyn and Briggs Whorton. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews and her dear and cherished church family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Irene Davis and husband Joe, brother W.L. Spence and wife Kathryn, son Steven Whorton, granddaughter Amanda Kay Whorton, and great grandson Wylie Bagby.

Funeral services will be held at Robinson Baptist Church at 10:00AM Saturday, December 11, 2021 located at 5412 Robinson Road. with Pastor Mark Harris, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Waylon Bagby, Lucas Bagby, Ken Whorton, Michael Whorton, Levi Whorton, Chad Hitchcock, Chad O’Hern, and Bryan Beegle. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, in Caddo, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, December 10, 2021 at Robinson Baptist Church, in Caddo.
