Obituary

JoAnn M. Zaic, 59, of Coleraine, died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, surrounded by family and friends in her home in Coleraine. Born on Feb. 12, 1948 in Grand Rapids, Minn., she was the daughter of Eino and Tena (Kuryla) Kekkonen. She attended the Grand Rapids High School. She worked for School District 316 nearly 30 years, driving bus, and was secretary for the activities director and was the Community Ed director. She enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing and going to the casino. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Roger Zaic of Coleraine; daughter, Bobbi Jo (John) Solberg of Cottage Grove, Minn.; two sons, Brent (Kitty) Zaic of Bloomington, Minn., and Ryan Zaic of Bovey; eight grandchildren, Kailey and Miranda Zaic, Keldon, Bryce and Tahlia Solberg and Zachary, Matthew and Kaitlyn Zaic; sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Wilson, Carol (Dean) Swenson, Debbie (Jim) Hanson and Kim (Jeff) Bishop, all of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Christine (Ray Haggard) Poirier of Grand Rapids; and two brothers-in-law, Martin Zaic, Jr. and Scott Zaic and numerous nieces and nephews, uncle and cousins. VISITATION:9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 in the Greenway High School Gym. Honorary Pallbearers are Tim Broberg, Bill Hare and Jeff Kuck. Arrangements by the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine. Memorials may be made to Itasca Hospice 202 N.E. 3rd Street, Grand Rapids, MN. 55744.
