Joanna Diboll

1935 - 2025

Joanna Lipp Diboll passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at The Poydras Home in New Orleans at the age of 90. Mrs. Diboll was born on April 4, 1935, in Monroe, LA, the daughter of Marion Trousdale Lipp and Frances Louise Robertson Lipp.

Mrs. Diboll will be interred at Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 in the new year to join her late husband, Cerré Born Diboll, Jr. ("Buddy") in the family tomb. Her childhood years were spent living in Oak Grove and Winnsboro, LA. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a member of Kappa Delta sorority and later earned a master's from Tulane. During her career, she worked in marketing, education and held numerous volunteer positions. Mrs. Diboll lived in Uptown New Orleans raising her family, Alison, Michele and David where she was a hands-on mom who was always volunteering at school, driving carpools, being a scout leader and was her children's #1 fan at all their sporting events. She loved to spend time at their summer home in Pass Christian cooking amazing meals from just about anything the kids and Buddy caught in the Bay. Mrs. Diboll ("Granny") routinely kept Hershey Kisses in her pocket to spoil her grandsons with a Granny Chocolate. She loved to travel and encouraged her children to experience the world and do the same. At 75, she traveled to Paris for a month to enjoy her last international experience.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She also belonged to a very special group of lifelong friends, the "Ya-Ya's".

Mrs. Diboll is survived by her three children, Alison Joanna Diboll and Michele Louise Diboll of New Orleans and David Cerré Diboll (wife Kelle) of San Diego, CA. She was a proud grandmother to Camden Hoeser (wife Evanne) of Long Beach, CA, Miles Hoeser of New Orleans and Stephen Diboll of San Diego.

The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to Poydras Home, especially the Heron House Care Partners, where Mrs. Diboll spent the last three years of her life.
