Joanne (Gram) Grippo, 80 of Scottdale, died Monday, November 1, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home, after fighting various health ailments.  She was born July 8, 1941 in Scottdale, PA. Joanne was the daughter of the late Howard E. Newcomer and Mable Newcomer.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Grippo of 50 years on February 7, 2011. 


After serving over 20 years as a Registered Nurse, Joanne retired from Monsour Medical Center. She worked in various units as a registered nurse serving those in need.  Her love was assisting youth in the adolescent Discovery Unit.  Joanne was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School with the class of 1959 and Allegheny Community College, Boyce Campus. She was a member of the Calvin United Presbyterian Church, where she married her high school sweetheart, George.  Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and venturing to various casinos.  Her favorite place to play the slot machines was Las Vegas. Additionally, she loved vacationing in the Caribbean with her husband, sister Patty and brother-in-law Larry.  Joanne loved summer and hosting pool parties, especially for the Fourth of July Holiday.  She loved parties, with her most recent being a surprise 80th birthday gathering this past June hosted by her daughters for family and friends to share in her celebration.  


 


Joanne is survived by four loving daughters, Terry Cavicchio and husband Jim, of Bear Rocks, Marcy Grippo -Feltes, and friend Tim Fisher of Mt. Pleasant, Georgia Teppert and husband Ernie of Latrobe, and Cassie Moorhead and husband Jim of Connellsville. She was adored by six wonderful grandchildren whom she deeply loved, Haley Feltes, Cole Feltes, Dominic Cavicchio, Josey Moorhead, Jaylee Moorhead and Arielle Teppert. Joanne is also survived by brothers Dave Newcomer (Judy), Rich Newcomer, and sister, Patty Schwartz (Larry), brother-in-law Eugene Grippo and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Joanne spent quality time with a very special friend Kathy Hayes-Novack.  She also spent “Wednesday Happy Hour” with her long-time best friend Gladys (Dumpy) Sorace.
