Not sure what to say?

With Sympathy from me and my siblings the Bruvelis family from Minneapolis Minnesota. We all atteneded the Latvian summer camp and summer High School Garezers on Long late starting in the early 70's through with me till late 80's. Our family always stopped in multiple times to her wonderful store and get some things. I even took a peddle pontoon to get snacks from our camp. Loved her pup Puck the minni Collie that was part of the store. Beautiful memories of her great to chat talk to...

My parents bought the house five doors to the west of the store in 1978, so we were fortunate enough to be able to walk there to buy candy, browse the books, say hello or look around. It was like going back in time and became a part of the lake experience. Joanne and Long Lake Food Store is so missed. May her memory live on.

Yes, the 'penny candy' was a fave with the kids - certainly not a money-maker, just a kind soul's big heart in stocking it. We'll miss you Joanne!

It is hard to believe that Cousin Jo is no longer with us. I have many fond memories of our families celebrating holidays together in Long Beach and at her parents house on the lake. Over the last 30+ years, memories of great times spent visiting with her on that little screened in porch at the cottage will be treasured. Cousin Jo was an important part of our family and she will be missed.

Our family has always enjoyed summer vacations at Cousin Jo's Lake Michigan cottage. I will forever remember her visits - hair wet from swimming (laps!) in the lake, a martini in hand, and her dog at her feet. She was a feisty, wry, intelligent and independent woman.

Condolances from the Bruvelis family in Minneapolis Minnesota. We have gone to Garezers Latvian school late 60s through 1986! I for one being away from home at school 7 weeks each summer for 5 summers missed my dog in back in Minnesota. Always looked forward to go and see Puck the mini collie at the store! I still to this day think of him and of course the "Veikala Mate" Mother of the store! Fond warm happy memories of a simpler time. Our condolances.
The Bruvelis familly.

I considered my stops at the store part of the "Garezers" experience. Her sense of humor and warm spirit were often as big a treat as the special items I was able to find in her store....My condolences to her family. May your memories of her keep her alive in your hearts.

Summers at "Garezers" would not have been complete without those regular visits with Joanne and that wonderful Long Lake Food Store....My condolences to the family, you are in my thoughts and she will be missed.

Every visit to the Latvian camp also necessitated a visit to Long Lake Food Store; and visiting a bit with 'the nice lady who is so helpful'. So many of the visitors to the lake will sorely miss her.
