Reichel Funeral Home - Northampton Obituary

Joanne R. Kraynick, 90, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Catasauqua on September 26, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Makovetz) Holena. She was the wife of the late John Kraynick, and they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2024. She was a proud 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School, achieving the highest typing award. She worked at PP&L as a secretary until leaving to marry and raise her family. She then returned to work at Mail Well Envelopes for 20 years, until retiring in 1995. Joanne was an extremely hard worker in all aspects of her life. She lived most of her life in Catasauqua and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Joanne volunteered her time weekly making pierogies at St. John’s Ukrainian Church in Northampton. She enjoyed doing puzzles, going out to eat with family, but most of all she loved it when family came to visit her. She was most proud of her family. Joanne was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Always a smile on her face, she brought happiness to all who were around her. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Survivors: sons, Richard and wife, Sue, Stephen and wife, Jane, and Joseph; daughters, Patricia Seier and long-time companion, Gail Jerdon, Joanne Mottau and husband, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Dianna Kraynick; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joanne was predeceased by her son, John; brothers, Albert, Joseph, and Francis; and granddaughter, Rachelle Kraynick.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua. Family and friends may call Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
