It was a priviledge to have known and worked for Joanne. She is an inspiration to all for her strength, compassion, and thoughtfulness, not to mention the depth and breadth of knowledge she has provided for all those related to speech and hearing sciences. My thoughts and prayers are with you as we all mourn her passing.

To the family and friends of Joanne Roberts,
I had Joanne as a teacher in speech and hearing about 12 years ago. She, along with Kathy Davis, taught one of the most inspiring classes I have ever taken on 2-5 year olds at FPG. She brought in marvelous speakers, put us to work in the classroom, and taught us how to think and capture what we were looking at from a variety of developmental perspectives. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn under Joanne, our thoughts and...

Dear Roberts family,
I worked with Joanne on a research project during my Masters program in Speech Path. I also babysat the boys once and watered your plants a time or two. Joanne's boundless energy and enthusiasm for her projects were an inspiration. My thoughts and prayers are with Joanne and your family at this time. Know she had a huge impact on many, many people.

To the Family of Dr. Joanne E. Roberts,
I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Roberts. I worked very closely with her on my dissertation; she was co-chair of my committee and provided the subset of data that made my PhD a reality. She was one of the hardest working people I have ever met - and she expected only the best from me. She believed in me, and was there for me even when I was frustrated and tired of writing. I owe a lot to her. She will be missed.

To the family of Joanne,
I was terribly shocked to hear today of Joanne's passing. Joanne was a regular client at Caju salon in Chapel Hill, where I am a stylist. I have had the pleasure of styling her hair many times and always enjoyed her upbeat, pleasant attitude. She was a great lady and I know I speak for everyone at Caju when I say how very sorry we are and how VERY much we will miss her. I hope you can find peace in all this tragedy soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers. ...
