Joanne Rogovin

Joanne was my first cousin, as our Dads were brothers. Our families shared many holidays in their Queens home when we were growing up. Two years my senior, Joanne was my idol, seeming so sophisticated and determined to get her way! Her mother, Aunt Lillian, to my chagrin, gave me her outgrown clothes, which were always too "fancy," for my Brooklyn neighborhood. Joanne was a dear friend for over 40 years. She had a major impact on my life, as a role model for how to live, love and make a difference. Whenever there was a need for any of her many friends, Joanne was there to support and guide. Due to mobility challenges, I have not seen her in person for far too long, but nonetheless her passing has left a big hole in my life. She was a blessing to me, and I'm sure for a cadre of others whose lives she touched. Via con Dios, my friend.
