CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Job Cherian passed away at the University of Washington Medical Center, after battling Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for about three years. Job, fondly known as Joe was born June 29, 1981 in Kerala, India to Cherian Job Variamparambil and Usha Cherian.

He grew up in India and Dubai. He attended grade school in Montfort High Secondary School, Yercaud and went to the Modern High School of Dubai. He went on to complete his Bachelors in Engineering at Purdue University in Indiana. He was a true boilermaker. After his undergraduate, he worked in the east coast of the United States  at McKesson Health Solutions before he moved to India to work in Tata Consultancy, which took him to Australia and several parts of India before which point, he decided to pursue a masters.

His MBA took him to Queens, Ontario in Canada. After which, he proceeded to work in Oil and Gas with AECOM in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

His marriage brought him to Seattle, Washington where he worked at Sound Transit before he began working at Blue Origin. Joe was very proud to see New Shepard, the program he was a part of to successfully launch several rockets into space.

Throughout his young life, he had travelled quite extensively, including Australia, Kenya, Tanzania, Maldives, several US states, and Mexico. His last trip was to Maui, Hawaii which he said reminded him of home.

He was a cooking aficionado, always looking to expand his repertoire of dishes; a fantastic researcher of all things associated with the latest technology - electronics and cryptocurrency. His passion was to always get a deal, which is how he ended up in Kenmore - the secret of King county. He enjoyed going to musicals and comedy clubs. While generally quiet, he had a timely humor that always got a chortle.

He is survived by his daughter, Seniya Marie Variamparambil and wife, Greena George; his siblings Antony Cherian and Tresa Cherian; and his parents, Cherian Job and Usha Cherian. Joe was a loving father, husband, brother and son, who will be deeply missed.

Not sure what to say?

Job had helped me navigate through a training course as a new employee. I recall feeling nervous that day, but Job's kind and giving nature made me feel welcome and part of the team... he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

I met Joe only once - at the 2020 new years eve party at a family friend's house. Even though we met only once we struck up a good friendship and conversation on scotch whiskey :) We talked throughout the event and promised to meet/catch up for some more scotch the following easter, which unfortunately didnt happen due to covid. We kept in touch periodically thru whatsapp chats. Its very saddening to know he isnt anymore with us. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family. I pray sincerely...

Job was a pleasure to be around and a very good conversationalist. I enjoyed working with him and talking about life together. Peace be with the family.

Our heartfelt condolences to your whole family. He deeply touched me with his genuine and thoughtful demeanor. Even though we met only a few times it has been our privilege to have known him. May his life and memories serve as a guide to your family in this very difficult time. He will forever remain in our thoughts.

Job touched everyone who got the chance to work with him. I was so lucky to have him on my team where he could always be counted on, supported others, and always brought such a positive attitude and outlook to everything he did. He will be missed, and I am praying for comfort for all of his family during this time of grief.

Job was an amazing coworker - always willing to share his knowledge, embrace new team members, fun to work with. We'll definitely miss you Job.
