Deck Hanneman Funeral Home Obituary

Jodi (Dishop) O’Connor, 41 of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and formally, of Bowling Green, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, July 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Jodi was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to Richard (Dick) and Jan (Longstreet) Dishop and they survive in Bowling Green, Ohio.  Jodi married Tom O’Connor on August 7, 1999 in Haskins, Ohio and he survives in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

While celebrating her graduation from BGSU, she met the love of her life Tom O’Connor.  Being ‘slightly older’ knowing Jodi’s brother, Tom always referred to her as “Dish’s little sister,” but when they met this time he saw more – a bright sparkle in Jodi that lit up his life and he married her.

Jodi loved being a stay at home mother and felt it a privilege and great responsibility.  She purposed to make their home welcoming and filled with joy, fun and faith. Jodi found her calling was to use her degree to homeschool their three sons; Kaidden, Breck and Macray.  She was a very gifted teacher and poured herself into the spiritual and academic education of her children.  She valued the relationships and network of people in the homeschool Co-Ops and hockey association she was a member of.  One of her greatest pleasures was watching her sons’ activities and she ultimately fully embraced being a “hockey mom.”

Jodi was a member of the Eagle Brook Church in White Bear, MN.  She took her faith in the Lord very seriously, and enjoyed reading the Bible and going to Bible Study.  She impacted numerous people with her faith, especially during the last 7 months.  She truly lived her faith and the light of Jesus shined brightly through her.  She loved baking, quilting, doing jigsaw puzzles and gardening, however most of all, Jodi loved spending time with her family and friends; always an amazing hostess with delicious food, a welcoming home and of course, games. She is known for her servant’s heart.  Jodi became an instant and faithful friend to all who were blessed to know her.

Along with her parents Dick and Jan and her husband Tom, Jodi is survived by her three beloved sons:  Kaidden, Breck and Macray O’Connor, of Mendota Heights, Minnesota; a sister:  Teresa Dishop, of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother:  Anthony “Tony” (Christine) Dishop, of Bowling Green, Ohio; maternal Grandparents:   Gerald and Betty Longstreet, of Haskins, Ohio; mother-in-law:  Mary E. (Schnittker) O’Connor, of Bowling Green, Ohio; father-in-law:  Thomas P. O’Connor, of Huntsville, TX; brother-in-law:  Kyle O’Connor, of Woodbury, MN; Nieces and Nephews:  Paityn, AJ and Zachary Dishop, of Bowling Green, Ohio and Petra, Olivia, Quinlan and Maxwell O’Connor, of Woodbury, MN;  a host of many loving aunts and uncles. And, her adoring godsons and extensive network of friends in MN.

Jodi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents:  Albert and Amelia Dishop.

Visitation for Jodi will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & crematory, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Tele: 419-352-2171. Funeral Services to Celebrate Jodi’s Life will be held on Friday, July 29th, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY REMEMBRANCE CHAPEL.  Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Jodi’s Life will also be held in Minnesota at a later date.
