Not sure what to say?

I was honored to meet Mr. Joe from his visits to the CVC where he would come for exercise. I always greeted him "Hey Mr. Joe what do you know?" and he would give the biggest smile. It was a pleasure to see him enter the building 3 times a week. I will miss him and his amazing smile. He was not too much of a talker but he has an amazing spirit about him. My regards to the family on your loss. Thank you for sharing Mr. Joe with us at the CVC.

I had the honor to work with Joe Atkins on behalf of public school employees in the Dallas area on many occasions. Mr. Atkins always represented what is best about Texas. He was a man of courage,a man of honor, a man who always gave his best in representing and speaking for others. His life is an example for the rest of us to try to live up to.

Joe was always a hero and a role model to me and many others, I'm sure. He embodied the better angels within us, working tirelessly for social justice especially for those who worked in public education. Our world is diminished by Joe's departure.

It was because of the fortitude and perseverance of Joe Atkins that I was blessed to be one of the first black students to be admitted to the North Texas State Teacher's College, as it was known then, in the fall of 1956. I have many fond memories of Joe and the NAACP Youth Council under the direction of Ms. Jaunita Craft. He will never be forgotten because of the legacy he leaves in so many areas of the community. " Well done good and faithful servant." My condolences to his family and...

To The Atkins family, you have my deepest condolences. I worked with Joe at Madison when I first started in DISD. He was highly respected by everyone. He was a great gentleman.

Joe Atkins was a wonderful and kind human beings. He was generous and thoughtful in his communications with others.
God bless Joe and his family.
Most of his colleagues will remember his/ our ground-breaking days at NTSU.
Peace.

I worked with Joe at TSTA for 25 years. He was the nicest, humblest and smartest man I've ever known. We all respected Joe and loved to hear him laugh. RIP, Joe. My condolences to Marjorie and Joseph.
