I was a classmate of Joe Bellino at the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1961. He was a good friend and did not let his outstanding athletic ability deter him from being a great friend. He was a humble person and friends were his humble legacy. Go NAVY and Semper Fi !!

My aircraft carrier, the USS Intrepid was cruising in formation somewhere in the western Atlantic Ocean in 1963 with a destroyer on our starboard flank. Joe Bellini was aboard the destroyer. Some of our crew members recognized Joe and began shouting to him. He acknowledged the shouts with a friendly wave. I was pleased by the comradery displayed by Joe to his fellow sailors.
