Not sure what to say?

To the Briggs Family,

We moved next door to Gene about a year ago and since then we became friends. He always let us borrow his tools and his truck and was just a really nice, friendly guy. All he wanted was a friend. I wish I had gotten to know him a little better. I'm sorry for your loss and I will keep your family in my prayers.

Dear Briggs Family,

I was so sadden to hear the news about Gene. He was a wonderful friend, the life of every party and always had a good joke to make you smile. I graduated from James Blair HS with him and we commuted to Christopher Newport College just about every day for 2 years One of the things that we both enjoyed were fast cars and Gene always had one of the best. In fact, I think Gene still holds the fastest time from James York Shopping Center (this is where we started...

For Brooke and Justin,

I was so saddened when Chet called me and told me the news about your Dad. It was the same evening that I was telling Suzanne about seeing Justin's picture in the Daily Press and feeling so proud. Your Mom and Dad were wonderful neighbors; we all had a lot of fun together. As you have learned by now, life isn't always a "bed of roses" but your Dad always had a smile on his face. I will cherish all those wonderful memories that do not seem so long ago....but...

Dear Family And Friends,
We were very sad to hear about Gene's passing. I first met Gene on a bowling league at Denbigh Lanes. He was the kind of person that was easy to like and ready to help at any time. My husband and I shared many great times at the bowling alley with Gene and also at his parents house enjoying our Redskins games. We had not seen him for a few years but he was in our thoughts quite often.

To those who read this , my wife and myself have known Gene for about 15 years, after selling him the blue chevy truck, he would come by and tell me how much he liked it, 2 weeks before he passed he came over and I gave him some fish that I caught and my wife gave him some corn and tomatoes, he was very grateful for everything, he had a smile like a kid in a candy store, he told us then he had about a year left , we told him if he needed anything to call us,we did not know he would be gone...
