Edinburg - He was the first man we ever loved. Our very own Prince Valiant. Our Atticus Finch. The measure of a man our future husbands would most certainly have to live up to. Daunting shoes to fill for any guy wanting to be a part of our world. But Fortino and Roy managed to do just that, and...

Not sure what to say?

It was my pleasure of serving the ECISD with Joe. We will miss you until we meet again. In God's land. Respectfully, Ruben Carrera, Raul's Dad.

Dear Daddy, On the one year anniversary of your passing, we want you to know that we think of, talk about, pray for, honor, love and, of course, still miss you terribly every single day. How blessed we are to know with utmost certainty that you, Mom, and God are always right by our sides showering us with reasons and opportunities to feel happiness, gratitude, love, and peace as you simultaneously guide us through our grief. In your memory, we will continue to live our lives as you taught us,...

Sincere Condolences on the loss of your Daddy. I just found out yesterday or I would have been there. I had the pleasure of working with him at Central Administration. I had many bosses in my 24 years with the District but never one as honorable and kind as he was. I could go on and on but will never forget the admiration from others when I told them he was my boss . He was known and admired by everyone, he will never be forgotten Rest in Heavenly Peace Mr. Cantù Susie and Ray Alaniz

Uncle Joe, thank you for all the beautiful and funny memories... I'll always treasure them... together, you, Aunt Elvira, and my beloved son Carlos..watch over us and guide us Always, Marina

So sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He was such a kind man. A proud father who raised 3 very special daughters. He is now joined with your beautiful mother. Prayers to all the Cantu family.

I had the fortune to have worked with Joe Cantu 8 years before his retirement from ECISD. A gentleman and a scholar he truly was. A very accomplished man `s man who was well respected and admired by many of his peers. He will truly be missed by all who knew him but especially his family. Rest in eternal peace Mr. Cantu and thank you for your support and prayers for my son when we needed it. God blessed you.

With condolences & prayers to Mr. Cantu´s family....from Clara & Charlie Flores, Jr.

The best teacher I ever had. I was fortunate enough to have once told him so in person. One change I would make above is that he was not a disciplinarian. He did not have to be. No one ever 'acted up' in Mr. Cantu's classroom that I can ever remember. There was an air of professionalism that permeated the atmosphere while he stood in front of the class. We all respected that. Always a necktie. Always structure in his lessons. No funny business. Class schedule: First we checked homework,...

Talk about impacting the lives of others! It wasn't often, as we often lived outside the 956, but EVERY time I would see him, it was love...grateful to be back in the presence of greatness. (And still trying to earn some brownie points for favorable consideration on my grade, ha ha). What a terrific person, and family! Bendito sea Dios!
