Not sure what to say?

I first saw Joe when we competed in basketball against the grade school he was attending, i.e., Arleta vs. Kellogg. He was an excellent basketball player and continued to improve as the years went by. We were teammates in football, basketball, and baseball at Franklin and he excelled in all three sports, but he also excelled in character. He was a starting receiver on varsity football his sophomore year which meant we really missed not having him on the Junior Varsity team. As Freshman, the...

Joe, one of the clearest memories I have of you is on a Friday night. 1965 we are playing Jefferson High School, and the game is tight!! Erick throws a long!!! sideline pass to you, reaching out your arms the Football drops into your hands and your next steps into the End Zone scoring. The Quakers won that game and the 1965 PIL Championship so great to part of that. God Bless you and yours.

The thing I most recall of Joe G. and the same of others form FHS I still talk with. Joe was just a good human being, he was among a hand full of folks at FHS not absorbed by their Club, sports, and popularity. AS Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors, many !!! of us looked up Joe G. I often think of Joe G. and am blessed to have been a teammate, Brother Policeman (Deputy Sheriff) and have his friendship. God Bless you Joe G.

Dreamed about Joe last night. Hope you are well. Say hello to my wife.

June 21, 2020 I often stop and think about No. 89 Joe Goodale and those I have stayed close with from the FHS Class of 67. MANY of us looked up to Joe. Joe was a leader he did not define himself by club status, popularity or self serving, was just fleet out a GOOD guy. Andy P Lushenko No. 56

He was the oldest of my three baby brothers. I have a picture on my living room wall that I look at everyday of Joe , maybe 3 and me, maybe 5. It's probably my most precious picture of the two of us. I love you Joe, you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. You are with Mom and Dad and my darling Toni. I love you.

I met Joe Goodale at the Swan Island Marine Reserve Center after a I'd returned from Vietnam. Joe was a squared away guy, a policeman in every sense, yet had the biggest genuine smile than anyone else at the Island.
Although he seemed to always be in good spirits, I doubt if any one, particularly a new "bunco" artist plying his trade in Portland, Oregon at that time ever thought of Officer Goodale as a pushover, even though at times, he could pass as an alterboy.

He was...

He will be missed but never forgotten.

I played sports with Joe beginning with Pop Warner football. We were both starters on Franklin High School's basketball team. What was a lifelong respect for Joe turned to friendship when I had lunch with him February of 2016. I wish we had had more time. I prayed for him a lot.
