Dear family of Joe, I'm sorry that all of you and Joe had to brave the debilitating effects of dementia at the end of his life. It's never easy. I worked as Joe's graduate teaching assistant from 1984-1986. He was kind, quiet and very zen. He introduced me to Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi and my love of Philip Glass´ music has continued.
