I'm a grad from 1977, and an old neighbor.
MR. MERLO will be missed. I'm sure he would be happy to know that they built a school where his house was in Fullerton.

I will always fondly remember Joe, since he was the one that hired me:) He loved Pennsylvania grads and for that I am grateful !! Joe really loved Sonora to the core. He was true "Blue and Gold"...Joe lived a good long life and I am so glad I was part of it. To the Merlo family my heart felt condolances, and I say..always remember the good times..I know I will.

I remember Sonora HS being such a wonderful experience. Being a new school, it got a great start under Mr. Merlo's steady hand. He obviously made it a better place to go to school. His service to this country and the education of our generation is greatly appreciated. God bless Mr. Merlo and his family. SHS Class of 1973.

I am a Sonora High School graduate of 1972. I respected Principal Merlo. He was always professional and he took pride in his role as a leader. I wish the family the best in their time of loss.

To Joe's Family,
My father Bill Kann worked side by side with Joe at Lowell and opened Sonora together. My dad always enjoyed Joe and his love of sports. They are up in heaven talking about the good old days. Our thoughts are with you in your lose.
Love, Lori Kann Wood
