Joe was a one in a million man. He knew everything and was an incredible host. We never sensed his being put out when we showed up to talk without calling to tell him we were coming by as we were in town. He provided a place to live for my husband Doss for a time after college graduation Doss was always grateful to Joe for doing that He will be missed.

I met Joe shortly after he retired. We were neighbors. Then he became (unbeknownst to me, because I never lock my doors) my dog sitter, then we became friends. He taught me so much about life, his extended family treated me like family too. The stories he told of coming up in the world... Had he written an autobiography, most would think it a work of fiction. And a few chapters could have been Hollywood block busters. Sorry to hear this sad news. As a CRNA student Joe took me under his wing and taught me so much about the anesthesia profession. After graduation he was influential in my hiring and I became a work associate of his. I have been to his house many times where he liked to fry shrimp, chicken fingers, hush puppies, etc.. When he took us out to eat he never allowed us to pay for our meals. I feel he was ahead of the time and provided every patient the best care available. So many things he taught...
