Joe Quattlebaum Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, June 1, 2013, Mr. Joe B. Quattlebaum, 81, husband of Patricia S. Quattlebaum. Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Kay Q. Dean and husband Jeff, Tara Q. O'Neal and husband Ed, Greg Quattlebaum and wife Tracie, Jody Quattlebaum and wife Shannon; grandchildren: Megan Dean, Scott Dean, Morgan Quattlebaum, Ethan Quattlebaum, Carson Quattlebaum, Reagan Quattlebaum, Madison O'Neal, Grace O'Neal, Lilly O'Neal; and brother: William R. Quattlebaum. He is preceded in death by his sisters: Ann Shealy, Hazel Murray; and brothers: Jim Quattlebaum and Ansel Quattlebaum. Mr. Quattlebaum was a native of Edgefield but lived in Augusta for most of his life. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from the dairy business including Borden Dairy Company after 50 years of service. Mr. Quattlebaum will always be remembered for his sweet smile and sense of humor. His passion was spending time with his family and tending his vegetable garden. In his later years he enjoyed catering for Larry Sconyers. The family would like to thank the fourth floor staff at the Heart and Cardiovascular Center at University Hospital, Medical Oncology Associates of Augusta, Cardiovascular Associates PA, and Colon and Rectal Surgery Associates. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ray Smith, Steven Storey, Scott Dean, Billy Quattlebuam, Eddie Bishop, Larry Sconyers, Wayne Storey and Danny Storey Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Ministry at First Baptist Church, 3500 Walton Way Ext., Augusta, Ga. 30909. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
