Not sure what to say?

When I was first stationed in Birmingham, I was supposed to be off of jump status. I ran into Joe at Ft McClellan PX and after a chat, he helped me get on the jump roster and orders for pay 5 more times at the sod farm and Graham dz at Pelham Range. Great friend and I am so sorry to learn of his passing.

I am sorry for your loss. I was a Command Sergeant Major in the 19th Special Forces in Utah and had the opportunity to be at some major events within the SF Command where he and I got to be friends. He was a great soldier and CSM. CSM (Ret), Owen D. Quarnberg, 19th SF Group (Abn), Camp Williams, Utah

Another good man has been called home by Christ our Savior. Gone from us but Christ has gained another great soul. Rest in peace, my friend.

Rest easy Joe. We will take it from here.

CSM Riley was instrumental in me being hired as an AGR Solider with 20th Group. He was an exceptional mentor that contributed significantly to my military career. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Joe's family. Respectfully SGM(R) Ed Stasiak

It was an honor and privilege to serve with Command Sergeant Major Joe Riley. I was fortunate to have CSM Joe Riley serve with me when I was the 20th Special Forces Commander. He was well respected at all the units within the 20th, the State Military Department, and United States Special Operations Command. Joe's wisdom, experience, and knowledge was recognized by everyone he met. Command Sergeant Major Joe Riley will be missed by all our Special Forces families and soldiers.

Joe will live in our memories forever. He left an everlasting positive impression on me and our family. The handshake. WOW I have described it to many.

It has been my honor and my pleasure to have known Joe. We always had pleasant chats about our families and our shared honor for the 20th SFG. His quiet demeanor will be remembered. RIP.

I'm proud to have known and worked, at the Armory on Orporto Avenue, for a good number of years, with Joe. He was always easy to work with and talk to. Helpful, when needed and had that big smile. My thoughts and prayers, go out to the family and the many friends of Joe's. He will long be missed and remembered.
