Not sure what to say?

Joe was hands down the best boss I ever had

Joe was the best boss I ever had, hands down

he was a great newspaper publisher I am from lexington nc origanly I plan to move back soon we left in the 1970s I really miss the area and the people. he was a great man

I worked for Joe in the 1990s right out of school and absolutely adored him. I'll never forget how he'd come up to the newsroom and bellow, "Who wants to go to lunch?" He might take us somewhere in Lexington or somewhere as far away as Salisbury or Greensboro, depending on his hankering. Drinks were usually involved. He always treated. Joe was one of the most generous people I've ever known. And one of the most charming. As one of his Chapel Hill hires, I can't tell you how tickled I was to...

Dear Libby, Joe III, and Ann Elizabeth: Diane and I send our sincerest sympathies to you. I always enjoyed talking with Joe. When our law office was on W.1st Ave. I would see him around town and even stopped by his office at the Dispatch on many occasions to chat. Later when our office moved to the Law Building on W. First Ave. and Joe and Libby build the house next to the office I would see him in the front yard quite often when I was either coming or going to my office. We always chatted...

I worked at The Dispatch many years ago (1992-1994) and loved every minute of it, largely because of the leadership of Joe. He was always so kind and encouraging - to every single person who worked in the building, regardless of their role. The atmosphere of kindness he created was unparalleled, and I never worked in another newsroom as uplifting as that one. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I worked with Joe at The Dispatch for nine years. He was the best boss ever and he sincerely loved his employees. Joe will be missed terribly.

Joe did so much for Lexington! His contributions will live on. I will always remember Joe in our basketball days, He will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers to the fanily.

Joe you well be missed and loved always! R.I.P
