I have known Joe Ben since I served on the Knoxville City Council from 1985-2005. I had always known him to be a very astute businessman who liked to volunteer for our Knoxville community through the Chamber of Commerce, Knoxville Zoo, etc. He had a great personality and always seemed to meet everyone who crossed his path. I first met Joe Ben in 1963, and with the exception of a few years in the late 60s and early 70s, we worked together until my retirement at the end of 2004. Some of that time was as fellow employees, but mostly he was my boss. But always, from start to finish, Joe Ben was a dear close personal friend.
