WILLIAMS, Joe D. - Of Burton, age 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, September 19, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2PM Monday, September 22, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Doug Klein officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of American Legion Post #158, Clio. Visitation 1-3 and 5-8PM Sunday and 12Noon Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Williams was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 17, 1921. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and poker. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Williams retired from Fisher Body in 1993, after 40 years. Surviving are daughter, Jody Williams of Flint; significant other, Debbie Decker of Flint; nephews, Joe and Carol Benfield and their family of Florida, Mike Benfield and family of North Carolina; other special family members, Mildred Decker, Randy and Burnice Slater and family, Helen Sytek and family, Homer Decker and family, Doris and Ed Houghtaling, Robert Decker and family; best friend, Lou of Burton; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia. A special thank you to the nurses and physicians in CCU at McLaren and to the McLaren visiting nurses.
