Not sure what to say?

I had the pleasure of working with Joel at the Village of Glenview and later with the City of Evanston. To me, he was the consummate professional. I admired his dedication to detail; he was always prepared. My condolences to his family and all those who had the opportunity to be his friend and/or colleague.

Joel was a great mentor for me as I began my career in City Management in Evanston. I am very proud to have known and worked with him. He cared deeply about his work and his service as Evanston's City Manager. He was also a good friend to both my family and me.

Kurt and Lauren, I am so sad to hear this. I babysat you both in Evanston when you were really little; I just want you to know that I really liked your Dad! He is someone I will always remember as being funny, warm and, above all else, super smart! Peace to you and yours, take care and prayers that the lasting memories are great ones.

Kurt, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew your Dad when I worked as an Evanston firefighter. He was a good man.

Thinking of the family and wishing them comfort and peace

Joel was a valued colleague at MSI Chicago - always supportive and friendly - quite unusual for a money man. We will be missed.

Joel was one of the most talented and intelligent persons Sue and I ever met. I was on City Council of Evanston when we hired Joel to be our new manager. It was a wise choice and he served city well. We miss him and wish we could have been closer to say goodbye.

Joel was an extremely talented man with a brilliant mind, quick wit and a magical way with words. May he be at peace. Judy A
