Not sure what to say?

I worked with Joel in Ivory Coast Peace Corps 1962-64. He was the kindest colleague, hard worker, faithful friend to those around him having problems. He had a sparkle about him that portended a future full of friendship and achievement...the very things that the other entries in this book describe. May his loving soul rest in peace.

Niskayuna Debate and its future generations will always owe a debt to Joel, and he will leave a great legacy with the kids of Niskayuna.

Joel was an energetic, thoughtful man with a keen wit. He worked tirelessly for causes in which he believed and was devoted to his wife and children. Joel championed many causes and touched many lives. His presence will live on in them. Our thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere condolences and I wanted the family to know that my prayers go out for them.

While at the agency I got to know Joel and admired and respected him and his work. May God's grace and strength up hold his family. May their memories light the corners of their minds and bring comfort and warmth to their hearts.

"I got to know Joel more while car pooling in wintry days than all my time spent at PSC. He will be remembered for ever for his wit on any subject that let the car poolers seriously engaged in the discussions. J.C. we will pray for his soul to rest in peace and provide all the strength during this difficult time." Sury Putta

Dear J-C,
The memories of Joel will be there. At first they only hurt, but little by little they will get brighter colors. I wish you stength. Else-Maj, your friend from Finland.

I love Joel as a colleague and a friend. He is always full of passion for his life and other lives his actions might touch. Many are positively impacted by his work and yet will likely never know it. He cares about us, all of us, and uses his immense talents to make our world better for his time in it. Joel, thank you. You are the Man.

Joel was smart, funny, and most importantly adored his family above all else. I'm glad that I got a chance to know him.
