Joel Christopher Castner, 31, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 3, 2015 at Community First Medical Center in Chicago. He was born October 6, 1983 in Iowa City, IA and was a 2002 graduate of Libertyville High School where he was the starting center on the Basketball team for 3 years and also played on the volleyball team. Joel attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville and enjoyed fishing, skiing and most of all loved his family and friends. Surviving are his parents, Mike and Terri Castner; a brother, Ben (Amanda nee Loftus) Castner; 3 uncles, Scott (Wendy) DeBord, Dick (Gail) Castner and Chuck (Debbie) Castner; aunt, Joy (Mike) Peterson; dear friend, Nikki Vest and also by his beloved dog, Huxley, many loving cousins and friends. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 219 W. Maple Ave. in Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church or Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, 55 E. Jackson St., Suite 490, Chicago, IL 60604.
