Not sure what to say?

I worked for Joel Cromleigh as an usher in 1963 and 1964 while I was stationed at Bergstrom AFB. Then again as his Assistant Manager from 1965-1969 at the Varsity, while I was attending the University of Texas. This was during the roadshow days of "My Fair Lady" and "Sound of Music", when movies would run for a year or more.
Joel taught me a lot about the theatre business which helped me tremendously when I went on the manage theatres for Santikos in San Antonio. Sadly, my last...

I worked with Joe at the Varsity for several years while attending UT. Joe was always friendly and fun to be around. We lost touch over the years. I looked Joe up when I returned to Austin many years later. He seemed down on his luck and a bit sad. Hope it got better for him.

Jason and family, prayers for comfort in knowing your father is in a better place and sympathy for this difficult time. May your wonderful memories of the years you shared bring you peace. God bless.

I am so fortunate to say that Showboat Joe was a friend of mine.. RIP, the penultimate gentleman, you will not be forgotten

We send our pool playing memories and deepest condolences to his family and loved ones and to our friend Jan. Susan Dasher and Dora Valdez

May the God of All Comfort be with the family. We are praying for your peace. Psalms 65 : 2.

A fine gentleman and a kind soul to all, godspeed Joe.

Sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Joe used to emcee shows at our night clubs, the Hook'em and Body Shop back in the 70's. He was a super guy and a real friend to all. I remember going to the midnight movies at the old varsity and Joe helping us improve our billiard skills. Rest in peace old friend.
