It is with great sadness to learn of Joel´s passing. I was a colleague of his for ten years at NUMC. Joel was an excellent, compassionate neurologist, superb teacher and even better human being. The world will miss him. Gary McAbee, DO, JD/ pediatric neurologist

i was fortunate to have Dr. Delfiner as my doctor for the past 20 years. He was kind, patient and friendly in all those years. He gave me reassurance and confidence,I last saw him several months ago when he told me he would no longer see patients but would remain at the hospital doing specialized work.He was looking forward to this. I was deeply saddened at the sudden notice of his passing. I will miss him.

Dr. Delfiner came to me after a stroke I had during open heart surgery in 2014. We were the same age, both from Long Island, both with white beards. To put it simply, he was my favorite caregiver. I know he struggled with the notion of retirement given his wife's illness in the past year. When I received the notice of his retirement I sat down and wrote him a thank you letter which remains not mailed. This is such sad news. Thank you, kind Sir. I will miss our talks. Tom Reidy
