I am so saddened by Joel´s passing. I will miss his easygoing attitude and friendliness. Whenever he came by he´d always ask about what project I was working on and show such a genuine interest in it that afterwards I couldn´t help but feel better about the work and myself. It´s a rare quality that along with a generous heart, he shared with his soulmate Barbara - I am so sorry for your profound loss. All my memories of Joel are pleasant ones, and I treasure them.

Joel cared so deeply for his students. I remember meeting him in the hallway of NAB at Old Westbury - such a kind person. We would scramble to advise our new students at fall/spring orientations...He would stay as late as needed to help his "kids." Old Westbury was very fortunate to have Joel for many years. A wonderful person.

I didn't know Joel but I couldn't help noticing the picture of him with his cat, Gus which brought me to tears. I just lost my cat Nubsy in April. I hope Joel and Gus are reunited in joyful peace. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Doug and I will hold Joel in our hearts forever. We were looking forward to more travels with you both after his retirement. Alas, it was not mean to be. We will never forget our times with Joel in Jamaica, St. Barts, NYC and Vancouver, B.C. and he will be along with us on our future trips together, Barbara. Take good care of yourself. Love, Dale, Doug and Davis Bonsall-Jevning.

This is indeed sad news. I worked with Joel for the better part of 40 years, and I admired his professionalism, his sense of humor and attention to detail. Joel was the key administrator in the School of Business, who was integral in implementing new programs, and constantly changing state and federal rules/regulations, while working collectively with other college administrators. Barbara, Kiko and I offer our sincere condolences at this most difficult time.

Just saw this in today's paper. I know that Liz, if she was still here, would be deeply saddened by Joel's passing. He was a dear friend. My thoughts are with you, Barbara. I know from firsthand that this is very tough. Words fail to describe the woe of your loss. Stuart Ewen
