Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Joel “Doc” Richard Jarman (Nordan) October 28, 1942 – August 5, 2022 – Wilmington, NC.

Doc, 79, entered into rest on Friday, August 5, 2022, with his eldest daughter and grandson by his side, after a valiant struggle with health issues. He was born in Erwin, NC to the late William Joel Nordan and Genettie Eanes Nordan. He is survived by three daughters Tammy Jarman Oakley of Wilmington, NC; Katherine Lorraine Kemp of Frederick, MD; Kristal Danielle Jarman of Orlando, FL; sister Janet Nordan McLeod of Dunn, NC; grandchildren: Jonathan Wisher (Megan), Madisson Darms (Tim), Christopher Wisher, Brandon Chopp, Ryan Whaples (Faith), Rebecca Whaples; eight great-grandchildren, and two nephews.

He led a very colorful life and was passionate for what he believed in, raising his eldest daughter as a single parent. Although he dropped out of Erwin High School in the 9th grade, he was extremely successful throughout his 25+ year career as owner of employment agencies in Memphis, TN and Charlotte, NC. His last business venture was an alternative retail store that also provided body piercing and tattoos in the Erwin and Dunn, NC areas. In his earlier years he was a bounty hunter with the infamous Bufford Pusser. After retiring, his best days were spent sitting outside, smoking a cigar, and listening to audiobooks. He also loved sitting at the beach people watching.
