Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences. I warmly remember Dr. Oppenheim when I visited NYU to participate in the summer research program (1995).

My sincerest condolences to the Oppenheim family. Joel was the child of a cousin of my grandfather. I knew Joel a little, having met him and his family a handful of times.

Our condolences to Susan, Gena, Lisa, and other family members. A true giant for civil rights and diversity in STEM is now at rest but will never be forgotten. He touched the lives of many. We are forever grateful for his friendship. Love, Ken and Shelita Boutte

My sincere condolences to Joel´s family and all of us that he touched with his care, love, and wisdom. -Tuajuanda Jordan

Joel always had a warm smile and kind word as he walked his beloved Sampson on Siesta Key

I remember his warmth and smile. May his memory comfort his loving family. Love, Marlene

I was in total disbelief when I learned of Joel´s passing. He was an advocate for students. We attended so many conferences together, Leadership Alliance, SACNAS,ABRCMS, recruiting trips to Puerto Rico. Joel was a friend and mentor. He will be dearly missed by all the students he helped and all his colleagues. He was one of a kind. My deepest condolences to his wife, daughters and extended family. Rest in peace my dear friend.
