Not sure what to say?

My sincere condolences. I was a classmate of Joel's at Calvin Coolidge High School class of "54 and remember him as handsome and gentlemanly. What a sad loss for all of you.

I remember Joel as a super stand up type guy in high school. I particularly recall his super choices of scripture that he read over the school intercom each day before classes began. His parents were a class act also--recall attending a wonderful party where his mother introduced me to real Jewish cooking. What a treat to be included as a gentile in his group of friends. Although I haven't been in touch with Joel recently--I had just ask a dear friend if she knew where he was so I might get...

I was among the several hundred others who went all through Coolidge High School with Joel. He was a darling guy then. We connected again when he was first married & lived a couple doors away in about 1960, & we got to talk a lot one-on-one. He was very missed when he left for California, but came in for visits plus our Class Reunions---how sad he won't make our 50th this year. To Joel's sons and wide range of friends the deepest condolences. We loved him.

My wife Patty and I knew Joel from working with him at the Los Angeles Olympic Committee. He was a mentor, a friend, and a strong supporter of our security effort, and we shall miss him. After the Games, our paths crossed several times, the last time in Seattle where we went to dinner and saw a baseball game together. Joel was truly a kind and compassionate person.

Joel always returned your call and made you feel as if it were the single most important thing he had to do all day. A man with great integrity who affected more lives than he ever gave himself credit for. He will be missed.

As for head of PR for ALSA I got to know, learn from and respect Joel. He was a caring, loving and dedicated gentleman. His presence has added true spirit to the universe.

With deep condolescences to Joel's family and close friends. His involvement with and contributions to The ALS Association and the comradeship with his fellow Trustees will be missed.
