Not sure what to say?

Dear Bev and family,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Joel's passing. He was a truly special man, so full of life and love for our dogs, Bucky and Sarge. He loved his family so much. Although we never met his children or grandkids, we feel like we know them. He was so proud of all of them and shared many many stories and tidbits of information over the years. We pray for peace for all of you during this difficult time. We are so thankful for the many ways in which Joel touched our...

I want to express my sympathy to family, friends and classmates of Joel. I was a classmate(U.City'63)
I also brought my young son's sick guinea pig to Joel. He was a kind, caring and compassionate person and Dr. I know how proud he was of your son, who was a wrestler as Joel was. My sympathy to you all. May his life be of blessed memory, always.

Dear Schatzman family,
I just learned today from my parents of Doc's passing. I'm very sorry for your loss. Joel was a great man.

I was one of the many teenagers that worked for Joel across the years - my time was back in the early 80's. Working for Joel was my first job, and the experience was a fantastic one - fun, educational, and frequently entertaining!

I reconnected with Joel over the last couple years, after moving back to town and noticing his new office next...

To Dr. Schatzman's Family - I wish I could adequately express to you the sadness I feel on having learned this morning that Dr. Schatzman has left us. He took loving care of my various pets over a thirty-year period, no matter what was required. In addition to being a superb veterinarian, he was extremely knowledgeable on general medical issues, about which we had many great conversations. I have lost a good friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Doc,

Thank you! I am so glad our paths crossed. You are such a character. I will always remember our long talks at your place. Thank you for some really great memories and some of funniest gab sessions I can imagine. You brought a lot of love and friendship to my family and we will always remember you.

Your memory is with us everyday as we still have Cookie, Cappuchino and the 2 min-pins that we got from you. It is hard to believe that we first met almost 27 years ago....

Dr. Joel used to buy shoes from me at Kehrs Mill and Clayton. I ran into him last April at Sam's. He was buying meds and I mentioned my cat Layla, who had out of control diabetes and was insulin resistant.

He reccomended a kind of insulin and I tried it. Layla is still very much with us and his advice, I am sure, went on to save many beloved kitties.

I miss him and am thinking about his family. He loved them so much and was so proud when he talked about them. He was a darling man.

I only met Joel once and I just caught a glimpse of how great he was! I'm a good friend of Ann's and he treated me like his own daughter's best friend because I believe he though of Ann as his daughter-not just his son's fiance. He remembered everything Ann told him about me and he was so exited to meet me! She always talked about how giving and caring and absolutely wonderful Scott's parents are and it's nice to read about all the great things Joel did and all the people he touched. I...

I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family. I never had the oppotunity to meet Mr. Schatzman, but my cousin Ann always spoke very highly of him. I will be praying for your family to get through this difficult time.

My family and I mainly knew Mr. Schatzman in the context of athletics, during the 5 years that Scott and I were at NU together, but the obvious bond and love he shared with his family drew many parallels to that of my own. As evidenced by my own firsthand experiences, as well as the messages in this guestbook, Joel was someone who had a significant impact on the lives of a great number of people, a testament to his character and concern for others. My family offers their sincere condolences...
