Not sure what to say?

Joel's legacy leading urban bike tours with BTCNJ continues. I often think of him and his friend Ted Semegran as I take riders across the GWB and around Central Park and so on. I adored Joel. I am not nearly as proficient or knowledgeable as Joel, but I try to be as welcoming. Please know he is fondly honored and remembered every time I lead a BTCNJ ride in New York.

Dr. Seidenstein was my teacher in 9th grade -1989. I loved how he was able to engage high schoolers with international history. He helped us understand the world and civilizations. He was animated, fun, kind and an excellent educator. Her gave me a 100 on my report card and in the comments wrote, “Has the ability to do better.” Still makes me chuckle. I’m sorry to read about his passing. Thank you Dr. Seidenstein.

Although we only spent one great afternoon riding through Harlem a few years ago Joel was a man who made a lasting impression! He inspired us with his abundance of enthusiasm and a great Joie De Vivre! The ride was filled with stories, laughs and great food!

We are preparing for the ride to Conquer Cancer in Montreal, Quebec, a ride that takes us from Montreal to Quebec city over two days, and I thought as a treat for our team, we would meet in New York for a Spring ride with Joel, a...

thanks for the photos, marc. it was great fun looking at them. i especially like the teaching photos of your dad...looking very '70's! altho i haven't met you or your family, i felt very close to all of you this past year during your dad's illness. we have all enjoyed many great trips at bike the big apple and your dad's influence on my son, jesse, has been very valuable and special, as well as the time jesse has spent taking daniel to ball games! much love to all of you.

By the way, there is a photo album/slide show of Joel online at: http://photos.google.com/Seidenstein

This note is to convey my deepest condolences to the Seidenstein family for their most untimely, grievous loss. Age sixty-four is simply too young an age to leave this life. Joel was a bright, warm, loving and delightful man who I am certain will be greatly missed by all who knew him and all who knew his kindness. Please accept my heartfelt good wishes during this very, very difficult time.

I was extremely saddened to read of the untimely death of Mr. Seidenstein. He was my Constitutional Law teacher in the 1970's at Bx HS of Science(I graduated in 1974) He was a superb and gifted teacher. To this day, I fondly remember the trip he arranged and we took as a class to the Supreme Court where(through his law school connections) we had a private audience with Thurgood Marshall. It was the highlight of my high school career. I must admit that after Mr Seidenstein's course, I...

As a former Bronx Science teacher myself I can attest to the fact that Joel was a gentleman, scholar, & an all-around great guy. His passing all too soon is proof that life is not fair. He will be missed.
