Dear Susan Sager Stein,
I was sorry to receive the
e-mail about your husband's
passing. I was in some classes at Landon
many years ago.
I have been teaching at Florida State
College at Jacksonville in the area
Music Appreciation, G.E.D., and Humanities. Best wishes for the future,
John Macklin, Landon Class of 1957

Dear Susan, Michelle, Michael, and David. I am so sorry to hear about Joels's passing, and for your loss.I had the pleasure of working with Joel for many years, and the opportunity to encounter independently each of you in different ways . Joel was a great teacher and inspired many, as he prodded others to look inward, with his trademark line: "Whose stuff is that?" I hope the knowledge that he is now freed from the ravages of illness help soften the pain of your loss. George

DEAR SUSAN AND FAMILY
SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS AND YOU HAVE MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND LOVE.

It was an inspiration to know Joel in his days of training for his black belt. He worked hard all the time, sometimes making me think my workout was going to be too much for him but he never stop putting out his best.

We pushed him hard, we demanded a lot from him. I wanted to see what he had, I was young and he was not and he always delivered.
I hope to have the spirit that gives me strength like his as I continue my journey through life.

I knew Joel through...

susan, just want to tell you how much I admired and cared for Joel...still remember our fun night in san fransisco a few years ago...both of us married again for years...please take care of you and my condolences...thoughts are with you...adrianne bucholtz mautner

My name is Paul Hart. I was the same karate rank as Joel for many years in the late 80s and early 90s and so I got to "rub elbows" with him. He was always a man of integrity, gentleness and just a darn nice and solid human being.
I am sorry to all the family for his loss.

To Joels' family, Altho Iwe never knew each other very well as adults, I have many fond memories of our adolescence in Jax. and always felt that he had special qualities and regret that we didn't know each other better. I was very saddened to learn of his passing aqnd my sincerest sympathies are extended to all members of his family. Beryl Lovitz

Susan and Doris, I am really at a loss for words. I have a lifetime of memories with Joel, from being young children running around on the beach, teenagers scouting around for girls, college, military service, Joel best man at my wedding, confiding in each other over the years. I will miss Joel terribly. My thoughts are with you, I love you both.
