Not sure what to say?

I attended Joel's celebration of life this past weekend.
As I drove up the driveway I was still in denial that I
would not be greeted with his warm friendly smile and fun banter
as I have over the decades of friendship.
I wanted to share feelings /thoughts I had while others were
sharing theirs. I did not and now regret not doing so.
I knew I would not make it through without tears.
Here is a favorite quote that touches my heart that many

What a joyous friend Joel was to me while we both studied at the seminary in Wisconsin. His love of outdoors comes as no surprise to me. He once convinced me and a classmate to spend the night out by the lake in sleeping bags. I woke up eaten by misquotes. Joel just laughed. I don't think he had one on him. God rest his soul. His wonderful spirit of joy will live on.

I knew Joel from our days at St. Joe´s. I considered Joel a very good friend. He and I would walk down to the lake looking downward for Arrowheads. Joel had the knack for finding them. I will cherish our friendship and the good times we shared. Joel was a very kind man!

Dear Ellen, Sophie, Jane and James, I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. I am thankful for the many ways Joel touched my life and will always fondly remember our years working together at the Classic Cup. There wasn't a day he didn't make me laugh. He was the consummate renaissance man, seemingly knowledgeable about EVERYTHING, and I so admired his incredible gardening skills, his great taste in music and pretty much EVERYTHING and his dry sense of humor. My heart and thoughts are with you in...

A super nice guy! Always had a smile, raised a great family. Sure to be missed by many. My condolences to the family.

My condolences to you and your family.

Great guy! My condolences to his family and friends. Bill Heideman

I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed getting to know Joel when we worked together at The Classic Cup.

I first met Joel at my son Casey and his daughter Sophie`s wedding a few years ago. Joel smile was warm and welcoming and he made me feel like we´ve been friends for a very long time. His daughter Sophie Is an incredible human, talented, resourceful, and kind; which it seems Joel modeled for his family. I wish we all could´ve had more time to get to spend time with Joel. He will truly be missed.
