Joelyn T. Baubkus, born April 11, 1931, died peacefully at the age of 85 on September 10, 2016 at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, in Elk Grove Village.
Beloved wife of the late Jerome J. Baubkus, they enjoyed raising their four children and many animals, in the northern suburbs of Chicago on beautiful lakeside residences enjoying joyful years sailing, cooking and backyard barbeques. She was a fabulous homemaker and loving mother. Later becoming a real estate broker in Libertyville, IL where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and had a real instinct for sales. She loved playing competitive bridge, reading, interior decorating and traveling through America with her husband in their RV.
She is survived by her children, Jerilyn Baubkus (Steve Antonacci), Keith Baubkus (Joanne McCann). Brother, William (Bill) Fagan and sister in law, Susan. Daughter-in Law, Joanne (Murphy) Baubkus. Joelyn was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Kathleen Ann, and her oldest son, Michael Jerome Baubkus. She was the Beloved Grandmother of Joseph, Jennifer, Mary Jo, Elizabeth and Michael Baubkus who she was extremely proud of. Many Nieces and Nephews were always a part of summertime family gatherings and Holidays.
At the age of 72, she moved to Sun City and built a home in a very active retirement community outside Hilton Head, SC where she would be close to her longtime grade school pal, Maureen. It was the perfect new adventure especially when she decided she wanted a little puppy. “Roxie” was the new joy of her life and her constant companion for the next 13 years where they went everywhere together and met many new friends and neighbors.
In 2011 she moved back to Chicago to spend time with her family and five grandchildren who she enjoyed teaching them cards and playing board games and telling them stories and passing on her wisdom.
Celebration of her Life will be October 15th. 11am

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing someone close to you in death is a very painful experience. Please know that God "cares for you." (1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7) When it's hard to express ourselves to others, we can find comfort in approaching God in prayer. He understands. I hope this thought helps you cope during this time of grief.
