Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Martin, Johanna “Annie” (née Faasse) passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the age of 85.

Annie was born in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, the daughter of Hendrik and Pieternella Gerritdina (née Bosua) Faasse. She was the proud owner of Leather’s Interiors, a beloved home furnishings store she ran for over 25 years, where she poured her creativity and care into helping people make their homes warm and welcoming-just as she did with her own.

She was the devoted wife of Richard Robert Martin, who preceded her in death on December 29, 2004. She was a deeply loved mother to James (Elinore) Martin, Carol-Ann Nichols, and Helmi (Mark) Sheely.

Annie’s children and grandchildren will forever remember her as the best host, the boldest truth-teller, and the heart of every gathering. If you ever visited her home, you were treated like family. She believed in making everyone feel welcome-whether with a ready cheese tray and a glass of wine, or with laughter that turned evenings into lifelong memories. Her love language was hospitality, and she made ordinary moments unforgettable with her warmth, generosity, and genuine connection. She wasn’t just the life of the party-she was the party.
She was a proud and cherished grandmother of Webb Sheely, Samantha Sheely, Kylie Martin, and Mackenzie Martin; and dear sister of Henriëtte Faasse.

Services: Graveside service at Bellerive Gardens on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 12:00 Noon. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery office at 11:45 am before processing to the graveside. A Celebration of Annie’s Life will be shared with family and friends from 1:00-4:00 pm.

Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for your loss Carol Ann, Helmi and James. I remember so many great times in New Orleans and St. Louis with your mom and family. I am hearing her voice in my head as I am writing this along with her welcoming smile. I recall so many times at your house in New Orleans and her love and joy she brought. I can also see her at the leather store helping us pick out our furniture. That furniture is now at our church in the prayer room serving a higher purpose. I am so sorry but glad she...
