John W. "Bill" McGowan, 68, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in an Oklahoma City hospital.Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Walker Funeral Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 4-8 p.m. to visit with friends and family....

I heard today of Bill's passing. We played football together and for years he would visit my mother once a month to collect the $1.47 monthly premium on my industrial insurance policy. My mother thought the world of Bill and so do I. Always a smile. I haven't seen him in years but miss him nevertheless. My condolences to his family. God Bless.

Big Bill was a "gentle giant" and a real prince of a man. I went to school in Tecumseh while Bill was there, although he was two years older than me.
Bill was a very affable person who was always smiling and in a good mood.Even though he was a large man he was not a bully type and was just a good guy. My prayers are with his family.
