John William “Jack” Richardson
July 8, 1955 – June 15, 2025
John William Richardson, lovingly known as Jack, passed away on June 15, 2025, in Flagler Beach, Florida, at the age of 69. Born on July 8, 1955, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William and Nancy Ruddy Richardson. Jack was a gifted craftsman, devoted father and grandfather, generous friend, and a man of many talents. ‘Toolbelt Jack’ was a proud and longtime member of the Stagehand Union, where he worked as a master carpenter. His career took him around the world, building stages for legendary artists such as Diana Ross, Cher, Elton John, Gloria Estefan, Barry White, Rod Stewart, Christina Aguilar, U2, Shania Twain and Celine Dion. One of his proudest professional accomplishments was helping to open The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in March 2003 — a feat that stood as a testament to his skill and dedication.
Jack’s hands could build almost anything — homes, classic cars, motorcycles, and memories. Whether tiling a kitchen, repairing an engine, or patiently instructing others on the golf course, Jack gave freely of his time and talent. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to help, teach, or lend a hand.
He was also known for his love of good food and good company. He loved to eat Eastern Shore crabs and Maryland tomatoes. His famous pots of chili or spaghetti and meatballs often brought together friends, family, and neighbors — filling not just bellies but hearts.
Jack is survived by his siblings: Kathy Robinson (Jim), Beth Richardson (Alex), Jerry Richardson, Neil Richardson (Janet), and Mary Jane Richardson (Harold); his daughters: Kellie Minnick and Brittany Strack; and his beloved grandson, Ryder Minnick and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. The Turtle Shack at the European Village Palm Coast, Florida
