John Joseph Abreu, Sr., 45, of Dexter Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Kendra Jo (Meyer) Abreu to whom he was married on May 21, 2005.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on December 28, 1960, he was a son of Joseph Nicholas Abreu, Sr. and Doris Angelina (Dupere) Abreu of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
He was raised and educated in Pawtucket where he resided until moving to Attleboro 5 years ago.
Mr. Abreu was employed as a mechanic for Fuller Packaging in Central Falls, Rhode Island from 1989 until becoming disabled in April 2005. He was also employed part-time for seven years as a bartender at VETS in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Attleboro.
As a sports enthusiast, he loved the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco 49ers.
In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves seven children: Cody J. Abreu of Attleboro; John Joseph Abreu, Sr.; Michael C. Abreu; Tracey Abreu and Kevin Abreu all of Coventry, Rhode Island; Jeffrey Abreu and Brittany Abreu both of Pawtucket; two sisters: Donna Santilli of Warwick and Laurie Kane of Attleboro; a brother: Joseph N. Abreu, Jr. of Pawtucket and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 208 South Main Street – Route 152, Attleboro. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boston Medical Center – Amyloid Clinic, 850 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.

John & I have had our differences over the years but have always remained good friends. We have a bond that was formed by 14 years of marriage and 4 children. John was a very hard worker who never even took a break for himself. Sometimes in our busy lives we forget what is truely important to us.
