John J. "Jack" Ackerman

To this day, I wouldn't have wanted anyone other than my, Uncle Jack to have shot our wedding in 1971. We had a few glitches,remember??? He was sooooooo happy and proud to be using that "Special day", his new high tech camera with all the whistles and bells! He reassured me that this was going to be the best work he had ever done! Jack and I shared many good assignments while I was reporting the news. He was an excellent photographer and an allround great guy. The photo must have been a self-taken picture because it is so good and brings out the true Jack. I saw him in 2004 when visiting Toledo but heard he was in a nursing home and no one knew which one. Jack was like a father to me. I've known him since I was 16 when he did a photo of my dance team from Central Catholic. Since then we have worked together many times, he did my wedding, has been my dear friend and I saw him last May 26th, 2006 and we spoke 2 weeks ago when he told me he had cancer.
