Not sure what to say?

Dear Brother, I find myself in a haze , looking for you. I have known you all my life and now feel lost without you! You always had great advice for me which was right on the spot. You taught me how to read! comic books of course. You taught me how to make a sling shot and hit lots of trees. You were always the kind one , and always had the time to help any of us out , no matter how hard the chore. I always loved to see you make those over the head baseball catch’s while speeding away from...

I am so sorry to learn of John’s passing. My condolences on your loss. Mr. Acton always welcomed me into his home with a big warm smile when I was in high school and came by to visit Laura. My parents (Jack and Margaret Byers) enjoyed chatting with the Acton’s at various school, church, and community events over the many years.

Mr. Acton was my middle school principal at Baker and also a friend of my parents. He was such a nice man. May he rest in peace. xoxo

We were lucky enough to know John through his son, Jim. He was an amazing father, and an even better friend. The void he leaves will not be filled because he was such a special giving person. Our condolences to the entire family on the loss. He left many positive memories, and that’s how we will choose to remember him. A smile on his face and a good word from his heart! God bless.

Such a kind and humble man. Whenever I saw him, his facial expression was always a warm and genuine smile. My most sincere condolences to Paula and the “kids” and their families.

Deepest condolences to Paula and the entire Acton family. John (and Paula) were great friends to the entire Minshall family and especially our late parents. From their time together at Alma in the 1950s through the present, our families have had a special bond. Sorry neither Rob nor myself could be there today, but our thoughts and prayers remain with each of you.

My deepest condolences to the Acton family. Mr. Acton was always interesting to talk with and a true gentleman. His respect and love for people always shone brightly. I always enjoyed talking with him.
Sincerely
Randy Cummings

Uncle John was one of the most kind and wonderful man I have ever known. He always had time to listen to everyone and share his wisdom with you. He loved every one and my family will miss him very much. My prayers will always be with him and his family. I know that God will have a special place in his kingdom for him.

John lived across the street from Independence Oaks county park. I was the park supervisor who lived in the park. John stopped by to introduce himself to me and we became friends. He raised money at his school to buy trees (Crimson King maple was his favorite) for the park. You can still see some of these trees at the park entrance and Beach area. He loved woodworking and donated a work bench for the park. Some of his children worked for the park. It was a pleasure to have known a man...
