John was a true friend to all who knew him. I was part of the "old guys" sporting clays group. We met every Thursday, first for breakfast, most recently at the Woodburn Golf Club and then off to Salem Sporting Clays for a day of shooting. John shot with the "best shooters" group. I also shot with some of the best shooters but it was John who gave me some great tips. We had many great conversations at breakfast. We moved to New Hampshire 1 1/2 years ago. I really missed the guys. John, Bill...

John lived just down the road (Bear Valley) from me in our youth. I spent many years around the Alto boys and will always remember the great times we shared together. Chris and my hearts go out to Dorothy and family during this very difficult time. We will miss John´s optimism and welcoming smile. Tibby and Chris Utter, Manzanita

We were so very fortunate to have reconnected with cousin John in the last 10 years. There were many stories about family told over the dinner table after a day of dory fishing and digging and cleaning clams. Lots of laughs!! We miss him so!

No amount of words I say now could live up to the man he was and what he did for people. I think about him often and treasure the memories. When you live 80 years on this planet and the people who know you agree that it was not enough time to spend with you. That shows how much of a great person...

Thank you for a beautiful memorial message. His hometown and mine, Astoria, were always sports rivals. John and I had some great conversations over the years. I miss them, and I miss John.
