Not sure what to say?

Condolences on behalf of Anne and Bob Hayes of Windsor. John and Dorothy had a place in their hearts for my parents. Unfortunately, my mother passed in January as well. As I go through years of Christmas cards, I'm reminded that we make great connections in our lives, and we will be rewarded should we endeavour to foster those connections. Our kindest regards to Dorothy and the family.

As a child raised in the Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church, I always admired John Amberger. He was a church leader who never lost his calm demeanor and didn't allow conflict to ruffle his feathers. This was probably one reason why he was such a successful participant in local government. John and Dorothy were close and loyal friends of our parents, Charles and Georgia Neubrecht. John´s honesty, integrety, and civility were strengths that helped me as I was a newly elected official as well as my City´s delegate to SEMCOG. May your years of memories carry you through the following time ahead. God Bless

During that time, I grew to appreciate his ability to work with everyone, including public officials, who could often be difficult. He was widely respected for his calm and thoughtful approach to problem solving and communicating. I have worked with hundreds of public officials and government employees during my careers as a Wayne County Commissioner, probate judge and state court administrator, but John stands out...

So sorry to learn of John´s passing. I have plenty of good memories working with him over the years and especially on trips to Mackinaw Island for the annual chamber conference. May your fond memories of him sustain you through your grief.

Mike and I are saddened by this news. We shared many aspects of our lives with John and Dorothy; church, governance, music, neighborhood, children. The world was a better place because of John´s care and concern for people.

John was an intelligent individual with varied and interesting experiences. He was a joy to know and visit with. He was respected and admired in our neighbor hood. He handled adversity and heartbreak with dignity. It was beyond what anyone would expect. As an avid gardener he had advice to share as he transformed his yard into beautiful landscape. He immersed himself daily in gardening tasks even when he needed a walker to steady himself. When he and Dorothy moved it was a loss to our...
