John and my mother Mary Keon were best friends from the early 1960's until the day she passed away in 2003. She cheered him on through the Leafs, the Seals and the Sabres. After John's wife passed away, she was there to help care for Shane, a little boy left alone. John & Shane came to depend on 'SKeon' and she loved to care for them.
The Smith, McDougall and Khan families spent numerous Christmas celebrations & holiday junkets with the Andersens over all those years.
John will...

When we look back ~ we certainly have many fond memories of our years with John...from scary new Stepdad to caring Grandpa with Amber as a baby.
Your Dad adored you Shane...but was never quite the same after Mum died ~ lets get together soon ~ and watch the old home movies!

I/We have many great memories of John starting with the Franroy Court days and attending hockey games & wrestling matches at the Gardens. Playing Rummy 500 with Bob & myself for the princely sum of $5. Sharing a cottage up in Huntsville with 7 other party animals. Flying to Boston for a back-to-back series with the Bruins. Visiting Grand Island and having John up to St.Marys. Etc, etc.
John was a loyal friend to many and we will miss him. ...

John never got over the loss of my mother, Jacquie, who died at the young age of 44. I wish him peace at last.

John arrived in Canada from Aalborg, Denmark in 1954 and began a distinguished career with the NHL. He started with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a talent scout, he was with the team when they won the Stanley Cup in 1967. Following Punch Imlach, he went to the Oakland Seals for a short stint. Then together they moved to help start up the expansion team, Buffalo Sabres in 1969, where John was Director of Scouting, eventually becoming assistant general manager with Billy Inglis before Scotty...
