John Andrieu Obituary

John Conant Andrieu passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the age of 57. He was the devoted companion of Barbara ""Christi"" Cox; beloved son of the late Paul Michael Andrieu Sr. and Marie Amelie DeLerno Andrieu; loving brother of Paul Michael Andrieu, Jr. (Rosa), Christian William Andrieu (Donna), William Joseph Andrieu, Robert Charles Andrieu, Kenneth Walter Andrieu, and Brian Joseph Andrieu (Barbara); uncle of Alyssa Gaudet, Lauren Andrieu, Stephen Andrieu, Jeffrey Andrieu, Kathryn Cavalier, Jacqueline Andrieu, Bridget Alford, Sara Caplan (Matthew), Meghan Musselman, Daniel Andrieu, and Hunter Andrieu; and great uncle of Megan, Jenna, Olivia, Amelie, Sawyer, Gabrielle, Anna, and Nicholas. John was born and raised in New Orleans and was a graduate of Redemptorist High School. He was a dedicated and longtime employee of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. John enjoyed sports, was an enthusiastic fan of the New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and the Boston Celtics, and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. John was a gentle and kind soul, who will be tremendously missed by both family and friends. Recently, he donated his stem cells to his brother, Paul, and was thrilled over the success of the transplant. John is deemed a ""hero"" by the family for this unselfish act. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John's memory to St. Michael's Special School. To view and sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

I worked with John and he will be missed and thought of every day. He always had a smile, a kind word, or some news about sports. He kept me up to date on all the latest events. He would do anything to help anyone. He was the kindest soul I've ever known and I feel it was my privilege to have known him and been his friend.

I knew and worked with you a long time, dear John. We had many memorable years together at both Delta Queen and the Supreme Court. Thank you for always bringing me articles about items you knew I'd be interested in. And thank you for always knowing the final score of the game "last night". Keep cheering for the Black & Gold! Rest in peace, big John. And peace to your dear family.

Dearest John,
Your ready aid to your brother, Paul, and the humility with which you conducted yourself, was an uncommon act of grace. I am a better person for having known you.

What a beautiful write-up of a man I have never met but feel so connected to through these readings. As a nurse I know the gift of life to another is no small feat. I have always admired the connection this family has with one another and John is certainly an example of this. I am grateful to experience him through the gentleness of my brother-in-law Chris.
