Hello, our hearts and prayers go out to the Avinger family. We knew of your son Jay, and have found this news heartbreaking. God be with you in your time of grief, and may He give you strength. I had many run-ins with John while attending The art institute. He was a person that you couldn't help but be gravitated towards. His smile and laughter was always welcomed after a long, hard kitchen class. He will be missed and the world will be poorer for the loss.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I remember the days when Jay had so many College of Charleston women watching over him. One day John Avinger, Sr asked for some help at the house on Sullivan's Isle. I think there was an elevator and a couple of other things we were working on. While I was waiting on John, I met Jay.
