Not sure what to say?

Dear Family and Friends of John Backstrom, On this anniversary of John´s passing, I am moved to share a memory that continues to shape my life and the lives of so many others. Being remembered truly matters, and John´s legacy is one of transformative love, unwavering kindness, and profound impact. A Mentor, Guide, and Father-Figure John entered my life during a time of profound vulnerability. I met him while volunteering at Seattle´s Union Gospel Mission, New Vision Faith-Based 9-month...

John Backstrom is an Awesome Man, who I met while a resident at Seattle's Union Gospel Missions, Behavior Modification Treatment Program, and John has been in my thoughts on a regular basis since then. All of the John Backstrom's are Great and Poised for Society.. because of "OG" John Backstrom spiritual embrace on Life and those who may have been downtrodden too! He stop by my Home one day after our initial meeting and gave me a brand new laptop and told me it was a present from a...

I am so sorry to hear that John has left us. I had hoped that one day I would get to see him again. It's wonderful to hear he had such a full life in the program and with his family. I would have loved to have celebrated my 25th anniversary with Bill W. with him. I remember "Uncle John" as a sweet, loving man. I also remember many fun family vacations with him, John Jr., Jeff and Jennifer. My prayers are with you all.

John's dedication and service to AA is remembered by me and the many hundreds he inspired and helped for more than a quarter century......So long John. Your place in the hereafter is assured..--- Sincerely,

The last time I chatted with John, perhaps a few days before the Lord called him home. I was asking John if there was anything I could do outside prayer and he said, "No, do you need any more AA books?" John will always be remembered by his giving spirit and love of man.

Corky & I first met John when he and Barry came to the Magnolia meeting. It didn't take long for John to become an inspiration to many of us who had been in the program for awhile. I know he was responsible for many years of sobriety to meeting goers. We will Miss you John.
Aloha!

I worked for Washington Transit Advertising in the early 80' for John and Bob. What a Teddy Bear of a man John was. He loved a good cup of coffee, didn't he ? As well as taking life by the tail. Here's to you John. You are one of the greats for sure.

John will be greatly missed. I have watched John give of himself, his time , energy and resources for the good of others. He really cared and his life reflected his compassin and care.

John was my sponsor in my first incarnation at recovery. He was honest, humerous, engaging, and a bit to the right of Atilla the Hun!! I loved him unconditionally as he provided a balance in my life to my loving but liberal wife! I know John will be missed by many, including me!!
